DFI Day 2

What a huge day! I felt pretty overwhelmed for the majority of the day, with so much new information coming at me. I have come away with many new skills, most of which I will need to put into use fairly promptly before I forget how.

Google Keep was a game-changer for me I think, due to the fact I can use it on my phone as well as my laptop, and it synchs in with each other (although I can only record I think via my phone). As far as lists (and I do love my lists) it appears this is a fancy Reminders list. I now need to use it asap so I don't forget how.

I loved how I was able to use this app to take a photo of text in a book, ie a journal, and then Google Keep rewrote the text into a doc.

Hangouts was new for me, as it was for many of us. Hopefully, I would use Hangouts with my class, particularly if we end up teaching from home. I have one scheduled with Vic on Tuesday, so we will see how that one eventuates.

Update: With NZ about to go into lockdown, and teaching to be done online, I have been thrown into the deep end today setting up my learning site. I am pleased to report after some coaching from a colleague, I am away and racing. There is nothing like a bit of pressure to get my head around a few tech things quickly!
I have also made the decision that I will not be continuing with this cohort online, due to the nationwide lockdown. Completing the course online via Hangouts just wasn't going to work for me, so I look forward to our world being back to normal when I will continue on this journey. Having said that, I have a feeling in regard to all things digital, my learning curve is about to become fairly steep, in a fairly small amount of time.

Stay safe.

Don't ever doubt yourself. You are doing an amazing job and hopefully you are enjoying this new online learning. Manaiakalani is looking into starting up Cohort 2 of the DFI online in a couple of weeks. I hope you will take this opportunity to rejoin. While you won't be expected to start until the third week, it would be beneficial to come in from the beginning to reconnect with the content, as there has been so much happening since we last met up face to face. There will be more information to follow shortly, so please consider this a heads up. I look forward to catching up with you again soon.
